Application Dossiers and Deadlines
Admission to the MSQ and Ph.D. programs at GSEFM is competitive and based on a review of the application dossier by the relevant admissions committee. The committee considers several factors, including:
Successful applicants to GSEFM should have a strong quantitative background, a clear interest in the research areas of the program they apply to, and the ability to communicate effectively in English. This preparation and motivation should be demonstrated in two essays:
- Question 1 (max 2,000 words): Describe how your academic work has applied mathematical, statistical, or other logical methods. Include which methods you used and why you chose them.
- Question 2 (max 2,000 words): Select a research area within the program you are applying to and outline a term paper that:
- Addresses a topical question in this area,
- Reviews current literature and conclusions, and
- Suggests how the literature could be extended to reach a sound conclusion.
The committee considers whether your prior studies were at the Bachelor’s level only or included Master’s-level coursework.
A specialization in economics or business is not required. First-year courses assume familiarity with multivariable calculus, statistical inference, econometrics (linear regression), and linear algebra, so strong quantitative preparation is essential.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with adequate quantitative training by the start of their studies. Candidates without such a Bachelor’s must have completed a Master’s degree with sufficient quantitative coverage.
There is no minimum GPA requirement, but due to the high quality of applications, successful candidates typically have a GPA above “B.”
Two confidential letters of evaluation are required, with at least one from a university professor. They should assess the applicant’s aptitude for the GSEFM program.
Letters must be submitted directly by the evaluators via their institutional email or, alternatively, by postal mail in a sealed envelope. Each evaluation includes a standard form and a separate written statement from the evaluator.
All applicants are strongly encouraged to submit the GRE General Test Quantitative Reasoning score. Applicants to the MSQ program tracks or Ph.D. programs in Accounting, Finance, or Marketing may alternatively submit the GMAT/GMAT Focus Quantitative score. Only the quantitative section is required; verbal and analytical writing sections are not expected.
A quantitative score in the upper 20–25th percentile demonstrates strong quantitative skills for GSEFM programs. Additional evidence, such as completed courses in mathematics or statistics from an internationally recognized program, may complement test scores.
Scores older than four years at the application deadline (January 31, March 31, or May 31) are not credited, though they may still be submitted.

The language of all GSEFM programs is English. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency through one of the following:
- A secondary school diploma from a school where English was the language of instruction for at least two years.
- Official confirmation of at least one year of university-level studies taught entirely in English.
- TOEFL or IELTS scores meeting the minimum requirements:
- TOEFL iBT: 93

Application Process and Deadlines
All GSEFM programs follow the same application process, though each program track (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing) has its own admissions committee. Applications are reviewed in three stages:
- Stage 1: January 31
- Stage 2: March 31
- Stage 3: May 31
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply in the first or second stage to allow sufficient time for visa arrangements and other preparations. Financial aid may also be awarded during these stages (see the Financial Aid section for details).
